PVC profile wrapping machines: from single profiles to finished frames
PVC window and door profiles leave the extrusion and cutting line with surfaces that must stay free of scratches, dust and moisture until they reach the fabricator. How they are packed depends on what leaves the plant: single profiles, bundles of profiles, or finished window and door frames. Each case calls for a different PVC profile wrapping machine or line.
Manual vs automatic PVC profile packagingIn many plants, profiles are still wrapped by hand. A recent Edda project shows what that can mean in practice. At a global PVC profile manufacturer with production in Türkiye, about 10 people worked together to load and unload each bundle, wrap it by hand with PE film and secure it with tape. The wooden supports under the bundle were first taped on and then wrapped again with stretch film so they would not fall off.
Automatic wrapping changes this. An orbital stretch wrapper applies film evenly through a rotating ring as the product moves forward on a conveyor, so every pack gets the same overlap and tension. The result is consistent wrapping quality, fewer transport claims, lower film consumption than manual wrapping, and packaging that keeps pace with extrusion and cutting.
Three ways to pack PVC profiles and framesThe Speedwrap Profiline is an automatic profile packaging line built for PVC window and door profiles, aluminium extrusions and other long profiles. Profiles are taken from infeed transfer tables, carried on a belt conveyor through the wrapping unit at up to 36 m/min, wrapped in a continuous spiral by two stretch film cartridges, and delivered to the outfeed tables ready for bundling or loading.
Infeed and outfeed tables, conveyor lengths and working height are designed for each project, so the line can be matched to the extrusion or cutting line layout.
When profiles are shipped as bundles on wooden supports, a different approach is needed. In the project described in our news article Automatic PVC Profile Packaging Line Replaces Manual Wrapping, Edda built a complete line around the Olympia 150 S automatic horizontal orbital wrapping machine. The line includes custom conveyors for long bundles, a wooden support placement system, a centering system, sensors that detect the wooden supports, safety light curtains and a touchscreen operator panel.
The results: a 6 m PVC profile bundle is wrapped in less than 50 seconds, the wooden supports no longer need to be taped and wrapped by hand, and one forklift operator and two assistant operators now run the process instead of about 10 people. The finished bundle has a clean, uniform stretch film wrap.
Window and door manufacturers that ship assembled frames need a window wrapping machine with a ring large enough for the frame. The Framewrap series wraps assembled PVC, aluminium and timber frames with stretch film and has no limit on product length. All four models handle frames up to 150 mm wide, with a maximum conveyor speed of 12 m/min:

Frequently asked questionsIt is a horizontal (orbital) stretch wrapping machine that wraps profiles with stretch film as they pass through a rotating ring on a conveyor, protecting surfaces from scratches, dust and moisture.
Yes. On the Speedwrap Profiline, infeed and outfeed tables, conveyor lengths and working height are designed for each project and layout.
In the Olympia 150 S line delivered to a PVC profile manufacturer, a 6 m bundle is wrapped in less than 50 seconds.
