New Spinner Series Launched: Direct-Drive Orbital Stretch Wrapping Machines with a Next-Gen Bubble Wrap Unit

Bursa, Türkiye – 22 October 2026. Edda Packaging Machines has launched the new generation of its Spinner horizontal orbital stretch wrapping machines. As of 20 October 2026, production of the previous Spinner series has ended and the new Spinner family has taken its place, starting with the Spinner 1000S BN bubble wrap and stretch wrapping machine. The new series was redesigned around four goals: longer service life, less maintenance, faster installation and lower operating cost per package.

Watch the new machine in action: New Spinner 1000S BN on the Edda Packaging YouTube channel.

Belt-free direct drive: at least 10 years without belt changes

The biggest change is in the heart of the machine. The orbital ring of the new Spinner is driven by a belt-free direct-drive system. On belt-driven orbital wrappers, the drive belt is a wear part that typically has to be replaced about every three years, and access for that service is often difficult. The new direct-drive design is built to run trouble-free for at least ten years, which means fewer stops, lower spare-part cost and more predictable maintenance for horizontal stretch wrapping of profiles, doors, panels and furniture.

The same principle is applied to the conveyors. All infeed and outfeed conveyors are now driven directly by gear motors, with no chains or belts. Shaft shearing problems and drive noise are eliminated, and the machine runs noticeably quieter on the factory floor.

Plug-and-play: conveyors fixed to the machine, 40% shorter footprint

The infeed and outfeed conveyors are now fixed to the machine frame. The alignment and assembly work that used to be needed at the first start-up is gone: the new Spinner arrives ready to plug in and run. At the same time, each conveyor has been shortened from 2 m to 1 m, which reduces the total machine length by about 40%. Small and space-limited factories can now fit an automatic orbital stretch wrapper into their packing area, and the more compact machine dimensions also lower freight and logistics costs.

Modular connection zones on the infeed and outfeed conveyors make the conveyor system highly customisable, so roller tables, transfers or longer conveyors can be added to suit each production line.

A new bubble wrap unit: double lamination, clean centre cut and up to 90% energy saving

The air bubble film (BN) unit has been completely re-engineered:

  • Double lamination with a clean centre cut. The unit can now seal and cut a much wider range of materials, including low-grade recycled bubble film, PE foam sheets, non-woven materials and plain PE films.
  • Solid-state impulse sealing. The previous BN unit kept its sealing jaw hot all the time, consuming energy even when the machine was idle and creating a risk of contact with a very hot surface. The new unit uses a solid-state drive that heats the jaw only for a short sealing pulse and then waits cold. The result is up to 90% energy saving on sealing and a much safer workplace for operators.
  • Improved film unwinding. The film feeding stage of the bubble wrap unit has been improved for smoother, more consistent material release.
Upgrade later: from stretch wrapper to bubble wrap + stretch wrap

A new Spinner S series machine bought only as a stretch wrapping machine can now be upgraded later with a plug-and-play BN unit positioned behind it. Companies can start with orbital stretch wrapping today and add bubble film protection when their products or customers need it, without replacing the machine.

Built-in pre-stretch: 20% film saving and no loose film

The stretch film carriage is now equipped with a 20% internal mechanical pre-stretch device. Products whose height is below the centre of the ring can be wrapped without slack or loose film, and the pre-stretch means about 20% additional film saving on every package.

Stronger top pressing and easier maintenance
  • Linear-guided top pressing system. The top hold-down system now runs on linear guides and is far more rigid. The top pressing rollers are modular and can be customised for different products.
  • Open, tool-free access. Decorative covers have been removed. The new construction meets all CE safety requirements, opens easily without tools and gives open access to every component, making predictive and periodic maintenance quick and simple.
  • Pneumatics separated from the electrical cabinet. Pneumatic valves and components are now outside the electrical panel, which keeps the cabinet isolated from moisture and makes pneumatic diagnostics easier.
  • Ethernet-connected inverters. All inverters communicate over Ethernet, so a drive can be replaced without setting parameters again.
Easier to use: new HMI and built-in label design

A new, much easier human-machine interface (HMI) shortens operator training and recipe changes. Built-in label design software has been added, and the label printer option is now plug-and-play, so packages can be labelled directly at the end of the wrapping process.

New Spinner series at a glance

  • Rigid, linear-guided top pressing with modular, customisable rollers
  • Infeed and outfeed conveyors fixed to the machine for plug-and-play installation
  • Double lamination and clean centre cut in the bubble wrap unit, for recycled bubble film, PE foam, non-woven and PE film
  • Solid-state impulse sealing with up to 90% energy saving and no permanently hot jaw
  • Plug-and-play BN unit upgrade for Spinner S stretch wrappers
  • Conveyors shortened from 2 m to 1 m, about 40% shorter machine
  • Smaller machine dimensions for lower logistics costs
  • Gear-motor driven conveyors with no chains or belts: no shaft shearing, less noise
  • Ethernet inverters: parts replaced without parameter setting
  • Tool-free, CE-compliant open construction for fast maintenance
  • 20% mechanical pre-stretch: no loose film and 20% film saving
  • New, easier HMI
  • Built-in label design software and plug-and-play printer
  • Improved film unwinding in the bubble wrap unit
  • Pneumatics separated from the electrical cabinet
  • Modular, customisable conveyor connections
  • Who the new Spinner is for

The new Spinner series is designed for manufacturers who wrap long and flat products such as aluminium and PVC profiles, doors and door frames, windows, kitchen and furniture panels, laminate flooring, mouldings and pipes. The Spinner 1000S BN combines bubble film and stretch wrapping in one compact machine for products that need extra protection against scratches and impacts in transport.
