How the Spinner 1800S BN Transformed Furniture Packaging: Reducing Labor from 25 to 3 Operators

Discover how Edda Packaging Spinner 1800S BN automated line cut furniture packaging times from 10 minutes to 55 seconds optimizing global logistics for a major European manufacturer Redefining Industrial Furniture Packaging A Case Study from Poland In the high volume furniture manufacturing industry packing large scale items like sofas and armchairs has traditionally been one of the most labor intensive and time consuming stages of the production line Standard manual packaging methods not only drain human resources but also lead to inconsistencies in packaging quality and material waste Recently Edda Packaging Machines successfully deployed a fully customized Spinner 1800S BN Furniture Packaging Line at a major manufacturing facility in Poland The operational and financial impact was immediate setting a new global benchmark for industrial automation The Challenge High Overhead and Time Inefficiencies Before integrating Edda automation solutions our client in Poland managed a high volume daily output of approximately 600 sofas To keep up with this capacity the company had to allocate a massive team of 25 dedicated packaging employees Packagers had to manually wrap each bulky item with bubble wrap and stretch film a grueling physical process that took 2 people nearly 10 minutes per sofa This resulted in high labor costs slower logistics cycles and zero real time metrics regarding material consumption or package weight data The Solution The Spinner 1800S BN Automated Packaging and Weighing Line Edda Packaging re engineered the entire workflow by introducing an intelligent inline Spinner 1800S BN horizontal orbital wrapping system integrated with advanced weighing stations and data syncing capabilities The Automation Process and Workflow The system executes a seamless high speed automated cycle from start to finish First the raw sofa ascends smoothly via a ramped inclined conveyor to the machine level Before any packaging material is applied an integrated precision scale instantly records the net weight of the furniture piece and transmits this data directly to the client ERP system Next the product passes through an automated bubble wrap unit where a layer of bubble wrap is precision cut and wrapped around the sofa with the back of the film laminated for maximum surface protection Moving along a specialized conveyor an operator can easily apply cardboard corner protectors if necessary ensuring fragile edges are perfectly shielded before the heavy wrap Then the sofa enters the ring of the Spinner 1800S BN where it is securely bound in stretch film under automated tension control achieving immaculate cosmetic consistency and optimal structural tightness Upon exiting the wrapping unit the fully packed sofa hits the final outfeed conveyor scale The system captures the gross weight and automatically delivers the verified packaging list data to the factory central ERP software At the final terminal an automated tilting conveyor rotates the packed sofa 85 degrees allowing a single operator to effortlessly slide the product vertically onto a pallet for instant warehouse dispatch.
